Echo Park Film Center - Of By And For - Part One

We went to the Echo Park Film Center to participate in a videoblog showing by Roger of 93mm.org. What a great place to learn about making media. The center's director Pablo was a wonderfully warm person and gave a great overview of the Center's workings.

Echo Park Film Center - Of By And For - Part Three

Roger of 93mm.org produced a videoblogging anthology at the Echo Park Film Center in Los Angeles.  The film center is a wonderful community site in a small, but very well used space.

Here is the closing where some goodies were gicen away and the center's director Pablo asked about people's film making background.

We had a great time and met a bunch of cool vloggers that I had not expected to run into.

Safe Arrival

It's almost been a year since my first video post on this vlog.  On April 1st, 2005 I made the first of my seven videos for VideobloggingWeek2005. My first video was a message to Ryanne Hodson.  I asked her to collaborate with us at Outhink.  She introduced us to Michael Verdi, Jay Dedman and so many others.  They taught us many things, not the least of which was videoblogging.

Yesterday, I drove to San Francisco to welcome Ryanne and Jay to California.  When I arrived at Dave Toole's place in Marin, I spotted "the car" that I had seen in Jay and Ryanne's videos for the past few days as they drove across the county.

I thought I would grab a few frames of the car, but then I got a big surprise. Someone was working on it. Click the picture to video the video.

I feel a deep sense of responsibility for the small part I've had in Jay and Ryanne's move.  I so look forward to the great work we will continue around Node101 and OurMedia

Dave Toole made this possible.  I can never thank him enough.  He and I both share a passion for self-expression through sharing of digital media.  Building on our work with SpinXpress, we hope to engage people in new forms of media collaboration and we've asked Jay and Ryanne to help us with that too.

Speaking of engaging content, this morning I watched Ryanne watching her mom's vlog.

I love videoblogging.

Thanks to Erik Nelson at the Bottom Union

I'm coming up on my one year anniversary of videoblogging and when I look back at all the amazing things that happened in the Vlogosphere, two major collaborative events stand out: videobloggingweek2005 and carp caviar.

What Erik started last year, continues to amaze and delight me.  Most recently Chris Weagel of Human Dog and Erik have produced a pair of collaborative videos that scare the crap out of me.  I love them, but I think I really need to move to another country.

What's Right & What's Wrong?

Dave Toole of Outhink shot this video during the Darknets Panel at South By SouthWest 2006. Here Kori Bernards of the MPAA explains how they intend to educate people on what's right and what's wrong when it comes to p2p sharing.

Chuck Olsen of Minnesota Stories has also posted some video from this panel.

If you look carefully, you can see Michael Verdi, Steve Garfield, JD Lasica and others from the vlogsphere.

Mr. Frankenballs

Frankenballs I found this funny little video on the Internet Archive while searching for "surf" music.  It's a cute little story of one man's obsession with his soccer ball.  You'll hear why it turned up in my search.

This video is apparently from OurMedia, but I have been unable to locate the original post.  I know that better searching and tagging are high on the OurMedia developers priority list, but there are very limited resources and the need help moving to new servers and hiring developers first.  If you can, please contribute to OurMedia and help us raise it to the next level.

Here is the link to the archive posting.

Hot Ukelele

Midnightukulele This is sooooo cool.  Local Mac expert and musician Moses Kravatz sent me this great link to an incredible site.  Check out Midnight Ukelele Disco.  They're redesigning this site next month and I hope they add a feed so I can watch these in FireAnt.  I really like this rendition of the Geroge Harrison classic.  This guy really wails near the end and the sound is sooooo sweet.

Dog Hop Service at the Jolly Kone?

It looks like there is a new "dog hop" service over at the Jolly Kone in Meiners Oaks, Ojai, California.  Hot Dog!

A Hummer wagon for a dog?

I caught this in the rain the other day.  A couple had pulled their dog in a little hummer like cart or wagon, complete with flashing tail-light (no pun intended).

Ok, so it's like Ojai, California.  You know?  What can I say?

Dojo Rainspout

Just a few seconds of a rainspout here at the Digital Dojo.  Nothing more.  Nothing Less.

Video Katsup from Ojai

It's been a while since I posted a personal video. This one's a bit long because there is so much to "katsup" on. There's a wonderful little suprise at the end, so hang in there. Click the pic to view the vid.
