Mia Garlick gives a basic explanation of what Creative Commons is all about and how it relates to re-mixing and videoblogging. This is an MP3 recording of a 23 minute presentation that was delivered at the Ex'pression College of Digital Arts during the Outhink sponsored XpressionVlog event on Friday, November 18th, 2005.
Schlomo Rabinowitz gave me a tour of the subterrainian passages below his wonderful bar in San Francisco. I love places like this.
I had the pleasure of visiting Eric Rice at his new digs and got to see first hand how he magically transforms his home-office into a great studio. Always the teacher, Eric shares numerous tips, tricks and techniques that he uses to make media. He even whips it out for a big surprise at the end.
Here's a short clip showing the equipment we were using in the video editing booths while the Ex'pression College event was going on. Here, Fernando, Chris Ritke, Richard Pascual and I try to figure out how to capture from the digital tape into Final Cut Pro. This was a first time experience for all of us (I had never even held a DV tape before). Luckily, we had help from Jon Scanlon of Ex'pression. Thanks Jon!
Jon got us going, but we ditched FCP and used iMovie instead. It was easier as none of us knew FCP!
Then we got our next suprise: unsynced audio!
Schlomo Rabinowitz was the emcee for our Ex'pression College videoblogging and personal media presentation event. During the intro, he shows Chuck Olsen's classic video from the Fine Line bar. I could not bring myself to stop recording or edit it out and so this is a bit long of a video, but great for re-mixing.
Here is an mp3 of the audio captured from the Ex'pression event, including Schlomo's introduction. This is released under a Creative Commons license of "Atribution-NoCommercial-ShareAlike" so you are free to re-mix! Tag it with xpressionvlog.
We're putting on a videoblogging presentation and event at the Ex'pression College of Digital Art on Friday. Here's the first post to the new vlog.
Something Ryanne said in an email reminded me that we need to think more about videoblogging for vids. Lots of issues there. Here's a moment from the Meet The Vloggers (the new MTV!) last friday in Los Angeles at The Grove Apple store. So how do we present videoblogging to kids? Josh Leo and others have posted related articles at We Are The Media.
Roger of 93-double-m joined us for the recent "Meet the Vloggers" presentation at the Grove in Los Angeles. He did a great job. Check out his site at http://93mm.org.
Last Friday, I was able to capture a small part of Jonny Goldstein's presentation on videoblogging that he was giving to some students in NYC. He shared some cool videos and stories that helps put them in context. I really like Jonny's presentation style. As Jonny would say "Digitized from New York ...".How did I capture this from California? An announcement about the presentation was posted in the Yahoo Videoblogging Group earlier in the day. It pays to keep an eye on those videobloggers; they're always up to something interesting.
Here's a ten minute MP3 excerpt of Jonny's presentation. Click the pic to listen or stuff it in your "pod", man.
My wife Alicia let me check Richard's feed on the iPod. Then something incredible happened. Watch this and then check out RichardShow.com for the exciting conclusion.
